Archival Descriptions Full Display
When you select a particular archival description, you will find information about the fonds, series or collection you have selected.
The detailed description of a group of records will answer questions such as:
- What kind of material is this? (e.g. paper files, maps, photographs, etc.)
- How much material is it?
- Who created these records? This will be a link to the record creator information about the person, organization, Manitoba government entity or Hudson’s Bay Company entity. In cases where there the records had multiple creators over time, there will be multiple links.
- For what purpose were they created?
- When were the records created?
Each description includes information indicating how to proceed with gaining access to the records, including:
- A link to an online list of the records, where available. For government records, this will be a list of all accessions of records in the series, including the dates and extent for each.
- Reference to a paper-based finding aid in the Archives Research Room,
- Information about restrictions which apply to the group of records,
- Information about whether or not the records are available through the Microfilm Loan Program.
You may save the archival description by clicking ‘save this record’. See Saving and Emailing Selected Records for more information.
