Biography
Rochelle Squires was elected as the MLA for Riel in 2016 and 2019. A journalist, Squires holds a bachelor of arts in communications from the University of Winnipeg, a master of fine arts from the University of British Columbia and a journalism diploma from Red River College. She and her husband Daniel have a combined family of five children and one grandson.

As Manitoba’s Minister of Families, Minister responsible for Accessibility and Minister responsible for Francophone Affairs, I am pleased to welcome you to our department’s website, your portal to the many government programs and services available to help strengthen our province’s families.
Our government recognizes the importance of supporting the development of healthy children and families as part of our efforts to ensure a better Manitoba for all of us - today and for years to come.
Throughout this site, you will find information and referrals for a variety of family-related supports including child welfare, foster care, employment and income assistance, disability supports, housing, poverty reduction, and much more.
Strong families contribute to positive individual and neighbourhood development, both adding to the vitality of our province. Our team continues to work with other government departments, child and family services authorities and community partners to provide accessible, comprehensive social services for Manitoba families.
