Heritage is a critical part of community identity. Community museums, Municipal Heritage Advisory Committees (MHACs) and heritage organizations play a major role in protecting and promoting the province’s rich and diverse heritage, organizing heritage celebrations and advising municipal governments. The Heritage Matters: Community Heritage Benchmark Worksheet (PDF) is a community heritage performance measurement and development initiative that can help your community group understand your strengths, engage local partners and make the most of your heritage resources. Community organizations completing the Benchmark Worksheet and interested in undertaking a project that helps identify or celebrate local Historic Places are eligible to apply to the Heritage Grants Program for funding.
